Award-winning climate advocacy documentary The Girl and Her Piano, sponsored by Kerry Consulting, continues to air on American television network PBS as part of the CEFF Film Showcase 2026.
Told from the perspective of Singaporean pianist and climate ambassador Hillary O’Sullivan, The Girl and Her Piano follows her journey to perform at Bhutan’s Royal Highland Festival, using music to highlight the country’s growing climate challenges.
YouTube premiere
Now, following a run of international festival wins, The Girl and Her Piano will publicly premiere in full on YouTube for the first time on Sunday, 30 August at 9.30pm SGT.
International festival recognition
Since Kerry Consulting celebrated the film’s original Singapore premiere in October 2024, The Girl and Her Piano has received a series of international awards, including:
- Best Documentary Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Composer at the Berlin Motion Pictures Award
- Best First-Time Director at the Los Angeles Short Film Award
- Best Science & Climate Change Documentary at the LA Film & Documentary Awards
- Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Sound Design at Bhutan’s Druk International Film Festival
The film has also screened at the Cleveland 50th International Film Festival, the Colorado Environmental Film Festival and the International Environmental Film Festival of Chefchaouen in Morocco.
A continuing programme of environmental advocacy
The Girl and Her Piano forms part of a continuing programme of environmental advocacy supported by Kerry Consulting, spanning projects in Antarctica, Bhutan and the Arctic.
In 2023, Kerry Consulting sponsored Ocean Geographic’s Antarctic Climate Expedition, where Hillary joined as its youngest climate ambassador and performed Rhapsody for a Changing Antarctic. Kerry Consulting later sponsored The Remains of the Antarctic, a photographic record of the expedition that included Hillary’s photography, and continued its support for Ocean Geographic Society Singapore.
Hillary subsequently joined the BIG ACE Arctic Climate Expedition to Svalbard in 2025, during which she played on a grand piano positioned on moving Arctic sea ice at approximately 81°N. The next phase of the programme will turn closer to home, focusing on advocacy for threatened primates in Southeast Asia.
