Kerry Consulting Executive Director and Head of Human Resources Practice Audrey Chan was recently featured in a Channel News Asia news report examining the growing adoption of agentic AI and what it could mean for jobs, skills and the workforce.

The report, which appeared on Channel 5 News, Channel 8 News and Channel News Asia’s YouTube channel, explored how the increasing use of more autonomous AI systems is changing the way organisations approach work and the skills they require from employees.

    Watch the full report:

Speaking from an HR and recruitment perspective, Audrey highlighted that the impact of AI is currently being seen more clearly in the changing content of jobs than in the disappearance of job titles themselves:

“AI is changing job content much faster than it’s changing job titles and the workforce response so far has been to redesign jobs and upskill workers rather than replace roles wholesale. Employees are increasingly looking for people who understand their function, who can apply AI to improve productivity and to redesign workflows and processes as well as make much better use of data.”

Her comments point to an important shift in the capabilities organisations are seeking. As AI becomes more deeply embedded within day-to-day work, employers increasingly need professionals who combine strong functional expertise with the ability to understand where new technology can improve existing processes.

    What this means for employers

For HR leaders, this places greater emphasis on job redesign, workforce planning and upskilling. Rather than considering the impact of AI solely in terms of roles being replaced, organisations need to assess how responsibilities are changing and what capabilities their existing workforce will need to develop.
