    Description

    This leading global organisation specialises in energy supply and risk management solutions, with a mission to help decarbonize clients’ businesses while ensuring the security of energy supply. They are looking for an Upstream Carbon Originator/Trader to join their team.

    Responsibilities

    The role entails developing relationships with project developers across the APAC region, structuring and negotiating long-term VERPA agreements with innovative structures to expand the network of developers and partners. This involves performing project due diligence to assess risks, following risk and governance frameworks to validate deals, and achieving PnL targets. Collaborating with Trading and Downstream origination teams to develop and pitch structured product offers, analyzing client needs, gathering market intelligence, and identifying industry trends. Additionally, conducting market research to inform trading strategies, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the automation and digitalization of operations and reporting processes.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of experience in business development or structured origination, with a successful track record of closing deals, preferably in the energy or carbon markets. A Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or quantitative studies, ideally with a focus on environmental or sustainability issues, is required. They should demonstrate a passion for energy transition and sustainability, along with a deep understanding of carbon products and markets, including project-based carbon standards, technologies, and global reporting standards. The ability to connect regulatory matters with business opportunities are essential, along with strong negotiation skills. Experience in project finance, portfolio management, and trading is a plus. They should also be a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
