Description
The company is engaged in global trading, dealing in products ranging from petrochemicals to raw materials such as coal and steel. Due to expansion, they are currently hiring an Iron Ore Trader in Singapore to manage and grow the business.
Role
Reporting to the Global Head of Dry products, the trader involves sourcing and securing iron ore contracts from global producers, suppliers, and consumers while managing the entire trading process, including procurement, pricing, logistics, transportation, and delivery. He/she will negotiate favorable contract terms, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, and monitor market trends, supply-demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors to guide trading decisions. Additionally, He/she will oversee inventory management, ensure efficient material movement across regions, and coordinate with internal teams such as logistics, operations, and finance for smooth, timely transactions. He/she will also analyze risk exposure, implement strategies to mitigate disruptions, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies..
Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Economics or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in bulk trading. Experience in Iron Ore/Coking Coal is a plus. You will have strong knowledge of global iron ore markets, trade flows, pricing mechanisms, and logistics, along with expertise in managing complex physical trades, including international shipping and regulatory considerations. Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills are essential, as well as strong analytical abilities to assess market conditions, price fluctuations, and supply chain dynamics. The ability to manage risk and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, volatile market is crucial. Proficiency in trade finance and a solid understanding of key financial instruments related to physical trading are required. Fluency in English is necessary for communicating with international counterparties, and fluency in Chinese is preferred for engaging with Chinese-speaking counterparties.
