      This is a global integrated energy company with a diverse portfolio of businesses. They are seeking a Lead Heavy Distillates Strategist to drive their market analysis and trading strategy while leading the Analysis function. This role offers an opportunity to shape the company’s strategic positioning in the heavy distillates markets while leveraging on the deep industry expertise to capture market opportunities in an evolving energy landscape.

      Role

      As the Lead Strategist, you will develop sophisticated fundamental analysis and trading strategies for the global heavy distillates markets, with a primary focus on identifying structural changes, arbitrage opportunities, and long-term market trends. You will build and maintain comprehensive supply-demand models incorporating refinery operations, bunker fuel demand, and regional trade flows. Beyond market strategy, you will also manage a team of market analysts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality market intelligence that drives trading decisions. You’ll work closely with traders to translate market insights into actionable trading strategies while maintaining relationships with key industry consultants and market participants.

      Requirements

      The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s or advanced degree in engineering, finance, or economics, complemented by 10+ years of experience analyzing heavy distillates markets at a major oil company or trading house. Deep understanding of refinery operations, particularly bottom-of-the-barrel optimization, and proven track record in developing successful market strategies are essential. Strong modeling skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, and comprehensive knowledge of IMO regulations affecting heavy distillates markets are required. Prior team management experience and excellent communication skills are necessary to succeed in this leadership role.
