Legal Counsel, General Corporate (4-6 years PQE)

Kerry Consulting is partnering with a leading regional energy company that is seeking to appoint a Legal Counsel to join its expanding regional legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with 4–6 years’ PQE, gained either in-house or in private practice, to further develop their career within a dynamic and fast-growing industry.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for drafting and reviewing a broad range of commercial contracts that support the company’s trading activities, ensuring that legal and commercial risks are effectively managed. You will provide legal advice on investment and strategic projects, including leading and coordinating legal due diligence, and support negotiations through risk assessment, drafting of key terms, and assisting with transaction structuring. The role also involves managing and resolving disputes in partnership with internal stakeholders and external counsel, as well as monitoring regulatory developments that may impact trading and investment activities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver practical legal guidance and contribute to internal governance and process enhancement. In addition, you will assist the Legal Manager on various ad hoc matters, including research, policy support, and general legal operations.

Requirements

You should be a common law-qualified lawyer with 4-6 years of PQE, preferably gained through in-house experience in a corporate commercial role or within a reputable corporate practice in a law firm. You should possess excellent written and spoken English, with strong drafting and contract negotiation skills. Prior exposure to or a keen interest in the energy or commodity trading industry will be highly advantageous. To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate strong analytical and communication abilities, effective stakeholder management, and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
