As they continue to expand our operations, they are seeking a skilled and motivated Market Risk Analyst to join their dynamic team.
Role
Reporting to the Head of Risk, the Market Risk Analyst will play a crucial role in assessing and managing market risks associated with oil trading activities. By providing insightful analysis and recommendations, the Analyst will contribute to the optimization of trading strategies and risk mitigation efforts. The analyst will have the following key responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze oil market trends, geopolitical developments, and supply-demand dynamics to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with trading teams to assess portfolio risks, stress-test trading strategies, and provide real-time risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain risk models to quantify market risk exposure and assess potential impacts on our trading positions.
- Contribute to the enhancement of risk management tools and methodologies to ensure accurate measurement and management of market risks.
- Prepare regular risk reports for senior management, summarizing key risk metrics, positions, and potential scenarios.
- Stay updated with regulatory requirements and industry best practices in market risk management for oil trading.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in a finance discipline with at least 3 years’ work experience in a physical commodity trading environment. You will have a strong understanding of energy markets, particularly oil, including supply chains, pricing mechanisms, and geopolitical influences. Those with strong IT competencies in programming including VBA, Power BI, Python will be desirable. To excel in the role, you must have effective communication skills to convey risk assessments and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
