As part of its growth, an exciting opportunity has opened for an operations manager to oversees the full China landing process for iron ore cargoes

      Role
      Reporting to Head of Iron Ore. The Head of Landing oversees the full China landing process for iron ore cargoes, including CIQ, VAT, customs, SAFE procedures, port handling, documentation, cost control, and compliance. The role manages agents, warehouses, surveyors, and logistics partners to ensure timely discharge, testing, customs clearance, invoicing, and resolution of operational or quality discrepancies. It closely supports traders with landed cost transparency, real-time operational insights, and process improvements to protect margins. The position also drives long-term sales by developing multi-year contracts, managing relationships with major steel mills and trading partners, and ensuring smooth execution. Additionally, the role leads landing-related governance, policies, reporting, and cross-functional coordination with trading, risk, finance, and operations.

      Requirements
      The ideal candidate will have a degree in business or a related field and at least 10 years of experience in China iron ore landing or bulk commodity import operations, with deep knowledge of China’s import regulations including VAT, CIQ, customs rules, SAFE procedures, and agency models. They should have strong relationships with China-based agents, ports, logistics providers, and inspection companies, and a proven ability to manage complex operational workflows, resolve disputes, and maintain accurate landed cost control. The role requires solid commercial acumen to support long-term customer engagements, along with strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
