Overview
A leading global player in the energy and commodities sector is seeking a highly skilled quantitative specialist to join its central modelling and valuation function. This team is recognised as a core hub of technical excellence, developing advanced analytical capabilities that underpin commercial decision-making across the organisation. Operating at the intersection of trading, risk, and analytics, the group plays a pivotal role in driving robust valuation standards, model governance, and risk measurement frameworks.
Role
You will be the go-to quantitative specialist for the valuation of the organisation’s derivative’s portfolio, concentrating on complex structured products and transactions. You will spearhead the development of methodologies for calibrating unobservable market parameters and advance the firm’s unified valuation and risk analytics platform. The position involves close partnership with various stakeholders to ensure rigorous valuation governance and model validation standards. Beyond technical development, you will shape risk identification practices, design effective controls frameworks, and provide insight into quantitative trading strategies.
Requirements
The successful candidate has at least three years of experience in energy market risk, ideally within an investment bank or energy trading environment, coupled with a postgraduate degree in finance, mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Strong knowledge of global commodity markets is essential, as is hands-on experience developing quantitative models for structured products. Proficiency in derivative and option theory, stochastic modelling, Monte Carlo valuation, and VaR methodologies is required. Advanced programming skills in Python, R, or Matlab are also essential.
