An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Regulatory Affairs professional to join a leading regional organisation championing the food and beverage industry across Asia. This Malaysia-based position plays a pivotal role in supporting innovation and harmonizing regulatory frameworks related to ingredients and Codex standards across the region.
Responsibilities
The Regulatory Affairs Manager will lead critical projects and advocacy efforts, ensuring alignment with evolving global and regional regulations. The role involves close collaboration with senior professionals and regulatory experts from both public and private sectors, facilitating dialogue and contributing to the development of science-based policies. A deep understanding of Codex Alimentarius frameworks, food safety regulations, and market approval processes will be essential to navigate the complex regulatory landscape.
Key responsibilities include monitoring and analysing regulatory developments at both national and international levels, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert insights to support industry stakeholders. The individual will be expected to develop advocacy strategies, engage with regulatory authorities and scientific committees, and represent the organisation in various industry forums and consultations.
The role also involves supporting members through technical guidance, coordinating events such as symposiums and regulatory roundtables, and maintaining comprehensive regulatory intelligence tools and resources. Preparing policy briefs, managing research projects, and facilitating regulatory harmonisation efforts across Asia will be key parts of the remit.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, along with 8-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs-preferably within food ingredients or Flavors industries. Strong knowledge of Codex standards, ingredient approval processes, and regional regulatory bodies such as ASEAN, FDA, EFSA, and other national food authorities is essential. Experience in submitting regulatory proposals and providing feedback to public consultations is also highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, adept communicator, and capable of building strong relationships with regulatory and industry stakeholders. A global mindset, adaptability, and the willingness to travel are important, and fluency in English is required-with additional Asian language skills considered a plus.
