    Our client stands as a prominent insurance firm, boasting one of the most robust teams globally. We are actively searching for a qualified professional to assume the role of Risk Assurance Director. This strategic position is set to be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is pivotal to the ongoing development and success of the Group Head Office.

     

    Responsibilities

    In the role of Risk Assurance Director, the selected candidate will assume a key role in overseeing and supporting the delivery of the Assurance plan, focusing on quality and timely delivery of reports. Initially centered on the Group Head Office plan, the position will progressively encompass subsidiary-owned plans, involving training subsidiary teams and ensuring the quality of their reviews. Collaboration with the broader Risk, Compliance, and Security function is integral to success.

    The role includes contributing to the review of conformance against Group Policy and Standard requirements, key regulatory specifications, and higher risk areas identified through risk assessments. Leadership is essential in driving data analytics efforts on assurance activities, ensuring coverage of controls through data analytics and automated testing.

    Regular engagement with business partners is paramount, staying informed about key changes and new initiatives, and applying this knowledge in recommendations to stakeholders. Additionally, staying abreast of emerging internal and external risk trends and industry best practices is vital.

    Providing coaching and oversight to team members, the individual will proactively identify staff development opportunities, contributing to the continuous improvement and bench strength of the Assurance team.

     

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 10 years of internal audit or assurance experience, preferably in a multinational life insurance company, specializing in data-driven auditing and key insurance processes. Technical expertise in Agency Sales, Claims, Underwriting, and Financial Crime is essential. A strong understanding of risk management, internal controls, compliance, and auditing standards is critical, accompanied by effective verbal and written communication skills for engaging with stakeholders.

    Desired qualities include an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically and strategically.
