Kerry Consulting is supporting an engineering-led organisation to hire a Design Infrastructure Energy Specialist to join ongoing workstreams in electrification and energy infrastructure. The team supports projects spanning marine and industrial environments, covering both new installations and retrofit programmes.
This role will suit an engineer who enjoys hands-on design ownership-comfortable translating requirements into practical power solutions, working across stakeholders, and supporting delivery teams through execution.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide technical input across electrification and energy infrastructure packages, from early design to enginering delivery
- Develop, refine and check system requirements / functional specifications for power and infrastructure scope
- Produce power system design deliverables (e.g., operating philosophy, calculations, design notes, drawings and technical documentation)
- Run load studies, power sizing and demand analysis for new-build and retrofit assets
- Support technical governance and compliance for grid connection, transmission interfaces, and relevant regulations/standards
- Liaise with internal teams, vendors, yards/contractors and clients to maintain design alignment and communicate changes
- Coordinate with EPC stakeholders to support implementation planning, including energy storage system (ESS) integration
What we’re looking for
- Degree / Diploma in Electrical, Marine or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in power systems design within marine and/or industrial settings (grid-connected infrastructure exposure is a plus)
- Practical understanding of energy storage and modern power architectures (e.g., microgrid / smart grid concepts)
- Experience reviewing or performing design calculations and simulations for power/energy infrastructure applications
- Familiarity with relevant IEC / IEEE standards for power systems and energy storage
- Exposure to LV/MV systems, including switchgear/switching, and ideally VFD and/or UPS environments
- Able to read and interpret SLDs, schematics and technical drawings
- Understanding of power protection philosophies / protection schemes
