Overview
A prominent organisation within the energy and heavy infrastructure space is looking to appoint a Head of Internal Audit to lead its Internal Audit and Assurance function. This is a critical position that works closely with the Audit & Risk Committee to deliver independent assurance over the organisation’s control environment, governance framework and risk management practices across strategic, operational, financial, compliance and technology areas.
Role
As Head of Internal Audit, you will spearhead the delivery of integrated audits, investigations and advisory reviews, ensuring timely execution and high-quality, actionable insights. You will oversee the end-to-end audit lifecycle – from planning and fieldwork through to reporting while championing best practices in governance, internal controls and data-driven audit approaches.
Partnering senior leadership, you will provide insights on emerging risks, control enhancements and industry developments. The role also involves building and leading a high-performing audit team, fostering collaboration, professional development and a strong culture of accountability. In addition, you will oversee the whistleblowing framework, ensuring effective triage, investigation and reporting processes in accordance with established policies.
Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline, along with relevant professional certifications in audit or risk. You will bring at least 10 years of senior leadership experience across internal audit, risk, compliance or operational functions within a listed company or multinational environment. You possess deep expertise in governance and internal controls, coupled with sound judgement, the confidence to provide constructive challenge and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. With strong project management capabilities, you are adept at managing multiple concurrent engagements. A pragmatic and agile leader, you are hands-on, detail-oriented and comfortable navigating complex, high-impact issues. Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive sustainable change across diverse stakeholder groups are essential.
