Junior Trader (Rice)

Description
Our client is a leading global agricultural commodities trading platform, specialising in the sourcing, processing, and distribution of rice, grains, and edible oils across key international markets. They are currently seeking a junior rice trader to be based in Singapore, with regional travel required.

Role
Reporting to the Head of Trading, the role involves developing and expanding new markets while building strong customer relationships across assigned regions, alongside executing end-to-end third-party trading activities such as sourcing, negotiation, and deal closure. It requires closely monitoring and analysing market trends, pricing, competition, and broader industry developments, as well as developing a solid understanding of trade flows, product grades, origins, and market spreads. The position also entails conducting supply and demand analysis to inform trading strategies and decision-making, while leveraging existing industry networks and relationships to drive business growth.

Requirements
The successful candidate should ideally hold a degree in Maritime Studies or a related discipline with3–5 years of trading experience, ideally within rice or agricultural commodities, with a proven ability to originate business and an existing network of customers or suppliers. Strong analytical skills and a solid grasp of market dynamics are essential. The role suits someone who is self-driven, able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, and who demonstrates strong alignment with organisational values and culture.
