Overview
An Asian Energy Group is seeking a commercially astute General Manager to lead its Singapore platform. The hire will be part of the pioneer management team, with full accountability for driving business growth, strengthening trading and operational capabilities, and reinforcing governance standards across regional activities. The position offers an opportunity to shape strategy, expand market presence, and within Singapore and the greater Asia commodities’ market.

Role
Based in Singapore, the General Manager will oversee end-to-end business operations, providing strategic and commercial leadership across trading, operations, finance, and corporate functions. The role will focus on expanding and optimizing trading activities, identifying new market and partnership opportunities, and ensuring disciplined execution across physical and related commodity transactions. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing strong risk management and governance frameworks, overseeing financial performance, and enhancing operational efficiency through process improvement and system capabilities. Building and maintaining strong relationships with banks, counterparties, customers, suppliers, and regulators will be central to the role, alongside developing high-performing teams and a culture of accountability and commercial excellence.

Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and bring at least 15 years of experience in commodities trading, energy, petrochemicals, or related sectors, including senior leadership exposure. A strong track record in managing profitable trading businesses, deep understanding of international trading and supply chain operations, and hands-on experience with risk management and governance are essential. Regional market exposure within Asia-Pacific, familiarity with trade finance and shipping, and experience with ERP or ETRM systems will be advantageous. This role requires a strategic, entrepreneurial leader with strong stakeholder management, communication, and decision-making skills, who thrives in a fast-paced international environment.
