Senior Legal Counsel, Commodity Trading

Kerry Consulting is currently working with our client who has been actively growing their footprints across Asia and they are currently looking to bring onboard a Senior Legal Counsel to support their APAC operations. This is a role with high visibility as you will be partnering closely with senior stakeholders and the leadership team.

You will provide day-to-day transactional legal support across a range of matters, including trade disputes, charterparties, bills of lading, and sanctions advisory.  You will be responsible for legal issues arising from the company’s commercial and financial activities, including the review and management of trading agreements (both physical and paper trades) as well as ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

In addition, the role involves managing disputes across the group and liaising with external counsel to ensure matters are resolved in a timely manner. You will also oversee corporate secretarial responsibilities, including preparing board resolutions, maintaining statutory registers, and ensuring compliance with relevant company laws and filing deadlines.

You should be a Singapore or commonwealth qualified lawyer with at least 8 years PQE gained from a trading firm. You should be an individual with strong organization and interpersonal skills. You should have experience navigating complex legal issues and applying practical, business-focused solutions to support internal teams in making informed decisions that minimise legal risk exposure.
