Kerry Consulting is proud to have sponsored the premiere of The Girl and Her Piano, a short climate awareness documentary produced by White Room Studio, at the Guoco Midtown Networking Hub in central Singapore.
The event showcased the extraordinary journey of young pianist Hillary O’Sullivan as she travelled to Bhutan’s Royal Highland Festival, performing amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas. The film sheds light on the environmental challenges Bhutan faces, particularly the alarming impact of climate change on its fragile ecosystems and communities.
Bhutan, known for its commitment to maintaining a carbon-negative status, is grappling with melting glaciers and unpredictable weather patterns, threatening its agricultural and hydropower-dependent economy. The Girl and Her Piano uses music as a powerful narrative tool, combining Hillary’s performances with stunning visuals to evoke both the beauty and vulnerability of Bhutan’s landscape. The film’s goal is to inspire global audiences to take action and support climate resilience efforts in this unique nation.
Following the premiere, attendees were treated to a live performance by Hillary, who played the piece Rhapsody for a Changing Antarctic, heard in the film.
The evening concluded with an engaging Q&A session moderated by Kerry Consulting Executive Director Cecelia Koh. Guests had the opportunity to delve deeper into Hillary’s experiences, the making of the film, and her ongoing commitment to using her platform as a musician to drive awareness for critical environmental issues.
