GCP Data Engineer (Apigee)
We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong Apigee experience to play a key role in establishing and scaling a new data platform for a well establshied Financial Institution. In this foundational role, you will design and implement robust data pipelines and API integrations – including managing and optimizing Apigee API gateways – enabling the company to harness data for advanced analytics and decision-making.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build the core data architecture, ensure data quality and governance, and define best practices that will shape the organization’s long-term data strategy.
Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, you will design and develop end-to-end data pipelines and manage API flows using Apigee to enable the ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data from multiple internal and external sources.
You will collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business teams to define scalable data models and ensure the reliability, performance, and accessibility of the company’s data assets.
You will also implement data quality frameworks, optimize performance across large datasets, and establish engineering standards that will guide future data initiatives.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have at least 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience, with a strong track record of building and deploying data pipelines – and proven experience working with Apigee (API proxy development, API gateway configuration, policies, security, analytics, etc.).
A solid foundation in API management, SQL, Python, and ETL/ELT workflows is essential, along with experience in data modelling, data warehousing, and workflow orchestration. Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage) will be highly valued.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a 0→1 environment, where processes, architecture, and standards are being built from scratch.
