Agnes Yee, Executive Director and Head of Legal and Interim Solutions at Kerry Consulting, recently shared her insights in an article on CNA titled “Are you stagnating in your job? Here’s how to read the signs and decide if it’s time to quit”.
In her commentary, Agnes emphasised that staying in a job long-term does not necessarily mean career stagnation. True stagnation, she explains, occurs when there is no growth in salary, responsibilities, or learning opportunities over several years. On the other hand, longevity in a role can be a strategic career move if it includes new challenges, promotions, or key projects.
She advises professionals to proactively assess their career trajectory by engaging in discussions about growth opportunities with supervisors and seeking external perspectives from industry peers or recruiters, before making the decision to leave.
