Data Governance Manager, 2 yr contract

We are seeking a Data Governance Manager to lead the next phase of the data governance journey of a leading higher education institute. In this pivotal role, you will move beyond policy design to build practical, scalable data governance capabilities. You will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to establish clear data ownership, improve data transparency and ensure that data assets are trusted, discoverable and well-understood.

Tanggungjawab:

As the Data Governance Manager, your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing the data ownership and data stewardship model across the organization. You will work closely with data engineering and architecture teams to ensure governance practices are aligned with the underlying data architecture and platforms. You will lead the development of enterprise data taxonomy, standards, and definitions and drive the creation and adoption of data catalogs to improve data discoverability and usability.

You will partner with business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate governance concepts into practical solutions that support real business outcomes. You will play a key role in embedding governance into day-to-day data usage, championing responsible data practices and supporting the organization’s broader data-driven transformation.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have 7+ years of experience in a relevant/related role. A strong understanding of data architecture, metadata, and modern data ecosystems is essential, along with hands-on experience establishing data stewardship frameworks, taxonomies, or data catalogs.

You should be comfortable engaging both technical teams and senior business stakeholders, with the ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly and pragmatically. Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving, and execution skills are critical.
