Accountant (Asset‑Intensive Business)

A diversified organisation within an asset‑intensive, operations‑focused environment is seeking an Accountant to join its high‑performing finance team, supporting a portfolio of long‑term assets across multiple entities. The business operates in a complex regulatory and commercial environment and places strong emphasis on robust financial governance, technical accounting standards, and close collaboration between finance and operational teams.

The Role
Reporting to the Accounts Manager, this role is responsible for the full spectrum of accounting activities for asset-owning entities within the group. You will manage end‑to‑end financial accounting across the asset lifecycle, covering acquisitions, operations, leasing, financing, and disposals. The position involves close interaction with internal stakeholders such as operations, treasury, tax, and commercial teams, as well as external service providers and auditors. In addition to managing monthly close and reporting, the role contributes to statutory and management reporting, supports audits and regulatory filings, and plays an active part in driving process improvements and system enhancements.

Requirements
The successful candidate holds a degree in Accountancy or a recognised professional qualification, with at least five years of relevant post-qualification experience. A solid working knowledge of IFRS and experience in an asset-heavy or operationally complex environment are important, while prior exposure to audit or specialised industries would be an advantage. Strong Excel skills, familiarity with ERP or accounting systems, and the ability to analyse financial data and explain key drivers are expected. You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced setting, while collaborating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
