AI Platform Lead – Leading Global FMCG Organisation

A leading global FMCG organisation is seeking an AI Platform Lead to define its enterprise AI architecture and lead the delivery of production-grade AI solutions across the organisation. This is a senior player-coach role responsible for shaping the AI technology roadmap, establishing scalable platforms and engineering standards, and leading teams delivering applied AI solutions across front-, middle- and back-office functions. Working closely with Data, Automation, Integration, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and Business teams, you will play a key role in building the organisation’s enterprise AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

You will define the target enterprise AI architecture and roadmap, assessing the existing technology landscape and establishing reference architectures, standards and guardrails across data, models, infrastructure and applications. You will determine how existing platforms should be positioned, evaluate new technologies where genuine capability gaps exist, and develop scalable patterns for use cases including GenAI, RAG, agentic workflows, predictive analytics, computer vision and intelligent automation.

You will lead AI Platform and Applied AI engineers across internal and external teams, owning technical delivery from concept through to production. Acting as the technical authority and design escalation point, you will provide hands-on architecture, design and code reviews while driving engineering quality, MLOps/LLMOps practices, model evaluation, platform reliability and responsible AI standards.

Partnering closely with Data, Integration, Automation and Infrastructure teams, you will ensure the wider technology ecosystem provides an AI-ready foundation encompassing trusted data, APIs, knowledge bases, embeddings, vector stores and scalable cloud infrastructure. You will also evaluate emerging AI technologies, support vendor and investment decisions, and work with Cybersecurity and Legal teams to embed appropriate security, privacy, governance and model risk controls.

Requirements

You have at least 8 – 10 years of experience in enterprise software, data engineering or architecture, including significant experience designing and deploying AI/ML systems at scale and leading technical delivery teams. You possess strong hands-on expertise in Generative AI and LLM applications, including RAG, agentic workflows and prompt engineering, together with strong programming capabilities in Python and experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex or equivalent.

You have strong knowledge of modern cloud, data and AI technologies, including AWS and/or Azure, data lakes/lakehouses, vector databases, orchestration, model serving, APIs, containerisation and CI/CD. Experience taking AI/ML solutions into production and establishing MLOps/LLMOps practices is essential.

You are a hands-on technical leader who can translate complex architecture into practical engineering direction and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders. Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, supply chain, commodity trading or similarly complex enterprise environments would be advantageous.
