SVP, Credit Risk Management (KL-based)

Our client is a leading financial institution with a strong market presence. It is seeking to hire a SVP, Credit Risk Management to lead credit approval and risk governance.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Credit Risk Management, you will lead the Credit Risk Approval function, ensuring sound credit decisions, robust risk governance and adherence to the bank’s risk appetite. You will oversee a team of credit approvers, managing complex credit applications, credit exceptions, restructuring proposals and other non-standard credit requests. You will drive enhancements to credit approval frameworks, policies and processes to improve operational efficiency and service delivery. Working closely with business, policy and collections teams, you will strengthen portfolio quality through portfolio reviews, risk insights and timely corrective actions. You will also serve as the key liaison for internal, external and regulatory audits while fostering a high-performing team and strong risk culture.

Requirements

• You possess at least 10 years of relevant experience in credit risk management or credit approval, with a proven track record in senior credit decision-making and leadership.
• Strong credit judgement with extensive experience in evaluating complex commercial or SME credit facilities, credit exceptions and restructuring proposals.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, drive operational excellence and continuously enhance credit processes and governance frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to provide balanced risk guidance while supporting sustainable business growth.
• A recognised Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business or a related discipline is required.
