Compliance and AML Quality Assurance

This is an opportunity to join a growing international bank in Singapore within its compliance function, focusing on strengthening financial crime controls and governance. The role sits at a critical intersection between first and second lines of defence, offering visibility to senior management and the chance to enhance the effectiveness of AML and compliance frameworks in a dynamic regulatory environment.
The position is responsible for independently assessing the quality and effectiveness of the bank’s compliance and AML operations through structured quality assurance reviews. This includes conducting periodic testing of key processes such as transaction monitoring, KYC/CDD reviews, suspicious transaction reporting, and sanctions screening. The role involves identifying control gaps, escalating findings, and recommending remediation actions to improve overall compliance standards. In addition, the candidate will ensure alignment of policies and procedures with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, develop QA metrics and scorecards, track trends in deficiencies, and present insights and reports to senior management and relevant governance forums.
Candidates should hold a degree in law, business, finance, or a related discipline, with significant experience in compliance or AML within the Singapore banking sector. A strong understanding of local regulatory requirements, particularly MAS guidelines, is essential. The role requires solid analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to assess complex processes critically and objectively. Professional certifications in financial crime or risk management (e.g., ACAMS or equivalent) are advantageous. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are important, as the role involves interacting with multiple functions and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
