Gasoil Trader – Oil Asset Backed Trading

We are seeking a commercially driven Gasoil Trader to manage and grow a middle distillate trading portfolio. The role focuses on optimising refinery system barrels, driving regional trading strategies, and expanding third-party business across Asia-Pacific markets.

Role
Reporting to Head of Trading. The role will develop and execute trading strategies for gasoil across both spot and term markets, with the objective of maximising value from refinery production. The role involves optimising the placement of system barrels by identifying arbitrage opportunities, managing regional trade flows, and aligning decisions with refining economics. You will be responsible for the end-to-end trade lifecycle, including pricing, negotiation, contract structuring, and deal execution, while building and maintaining strong relationships with counterparties such as oil majors, trading houses, and regional distributors. You will work closely with operations, shipping, and risk teams to ensure seamless execution, efficient logistics, and effective exposure management, while partnering with risk control to manage positions, P&L, and hedging strategies within approved limits.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Finance, or a related discipline. Minium 3 years of experience in trading with a focus on middle distillates. A strong understanding of regional Asia-Pacific gasoil markets, including pricing benchmarks like MOPS and arbitrage economics, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record in trading, portfolio optimisation, or commercial roles within oil majors, trading houses, or refining environments. Strong analytical capabilities are required, with the ability to interpret market data and translate insights into actionable trading strategies.
