Head of Network Engineering – Financial Services Industry

A prominent organization in the capital markets and financial infrastructure domain is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its enterprise network function. This company plays a vital role in enabling secure and efficient trading and financial operations, with a strong emphasis on innovation, resilience, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the robustness and performance of the company’s network systems, which support mission-critical services.

Responsibilities:

As Head of Network Engineering, you will manage the company’s high-availability network infrastructure, ensuring consistent performance and reliability across all environments. You will lead a team of engineers responsible for network monitoring, observability, and incident response, while driving operational compliance with industry regulations and internal standards. The role involves overseeing vendor relationships, service contracts, and SLAs, and implementing best practices in change management, capacity planning, and service improvement. You will collaborate closely with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and support.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in network engineering, design, and architecture, preferably within capital markets or other regulated industries. You should possess deep expertise in network protocols such as BGP, MPLS, and SDN, as well as enterprise hardware including Cisco, Arista, and Juniper. Strong knowledge of network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs) is essential, along with experience in automation, scripting, and cloud networking tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes. Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills are critical, and certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, or CISSP are highly preferred.
