Our client is a technology company operating in the cybersecurity and AI domain, supporting organisations that operate in highly regulated and security-conscious environments. They are seeking an Engineering Manager / Engineering Lead to oversee engineering operations and platform reliability while leading a team of engineers responsible for critical production systems. This opportunity suits a hands-on engineering leader who enjoys balancing people management with technical oversight in a fast-moving environment.

Role

Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the engineering team, ensuring strong execution across platform engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering, infrastructure operations, and production support. The role is focused on maintaining platform stability, scalability, availability, and operational excellence, with accountability for key operational and reliability outcomes. You will work closely with stakeholders to improve engineering processes, strengthen deployment and operational practices, support infrastructure growth, and ensure systems are operated effectively within regulated environments. While not expected to be a cybersecurity specialist, you should be comfortable assessing security implications within production environments and supporting the adoption of AI-enabled tools and automation to improve engineering productivity.

Requirements

You should possess approximately 5-7 years of experience across software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or related technical disciplines, together with experience leading or managing engineers in a hands-on environment. Strong knowledge of production operations, platform reliability, infrastructure scaling, incident management, and operational best practices is required. Exposure to regulated sectors such as government, banking, fintech, or other compliance-driven industries will be highly regarded. Candidates should demonstrate practical awareness of cybersecurity risks and controls, experience working with modern engineering environments using technologies such as Python and TypeScript, and familiarity with AI tools or automation initiatives. Strong communication skills in English and a delivery-focused mindset are important for success in this role.
